Adapted from the Robert Boswell novel, the film focuses on a very troubled family beset from all sides by conflict, arguments and scandal. The father (Peter Coyote) brings his wife (Cindy Pickett) and two sons (Vincent D'Onofrio, Peter Berg) to Washington State to begin a new life, but finds that the same problems have followed them. ~ John Bush, Rovi

At one point, D'Onofrio's character states, 'This family is a drug, and we're all addicted.' Thankfully, this movie has no such addictive qualities -- and if it did, I would advise rehab ASAP.
The ensemble cast is engaging.
A close-knit family doesn't really truly come together until tragedy strikes. Excellent cast of promising young actors; great chemistry and character development; good story.

Engaging, character-driven drama about a seemingly close-knit family forced to face some ugly truths. The fine ensemble is led by Peter Berg and features Vincent D'Onofrio, Noah Wyle and Juliette Lewis as his siblings, Jen Jason Leigh as his girlfriend and Peter Coyote and Cindy Pickett as his parents. Definitely worth
