Movie Info

When two fathers lose their jobs in product development at a large food company, they are forced to take their sons out of the exclusive Chapman Academy and become stay at home fathers. With no job possibilities on the horizon, the two dads open their own day care facility, "Daddy Day Care," and employ some fairly unconventional methods of caring for children. As "Daddy Day Care" starts to catch on, it launches them into a highly competitive rivalry with Chapman Academy's tough-as-nails director

[Murphy's] charming enough in this restrained mode.

Murphy is so oddly bland in Daddy Day Care that it seems like he sleepwalked through the making of the film.

Tepid attempt at comedy.

Daddy Day Care doesn't rank with the most awful of the Murphy turkeys, but it's definitely flat as a pancake, fueled by bathroom humor, listless pratfalls and recycled, borderline-offensive jokes about the ineptitude of men as caretakers.

My advice is to beat your children rather than take them to Daddy Day Care.

Daddy Day Care just wants to make you laugh, and make your kids laugh too.

It moves with such turgid lack of energy that I found myself wincing, trying to smooth over the rhythm with my imagination.

The kiddies will love every formulaic moment. Heck, they probably won't even care that quality thespian Angelica Huston is reduced to an embarrassing wreck.

Daddy Day Care is a manufactured film which is willing to capitalize on the fact that a sucker of a filmgoer is born every minute.

Eddie Murphy has kept his swelled ego in check here, but being too naughty when it should be nice stings the movie.

Talvez suas cenas funcionassem melhor caso fossem acompanhadas por uma trilha de risadas gravadas. Esta, aliás, seria a única forma de ouvirmos risos nos cinemas que exibirem este filme.

Daddy Day Care is ground zero in the new breed of awful family movies -- entertainment designed for parents who'll take their kids to anything that shuts them up for 90 minutes.

Once it gets the bodily function jokes out of its system (sorry), it settles into being a fairly agreeable little movie.

Daddy Day Care is a kid flick that's been kitted out with a lot of grown-up smart-assness—the better to broaden its appeal to audiences who weren't born in the '90s.

No one wants to let Eddie and his partner watch their kids at first because they are men, and of course men are only good at tweaking their cars to shoot flames from the engine.

["Daddy Day Care"] is a straightforward, don't-expect-any-surprises kind of pre-summer entertainment that has a good supporting cast, precocious kids and a premise that lends itself to slapstick comedy.

The title tells it all, and when you cast Eddie Murphy in that role, you know you've got the attention of the family trade who will have an almost hypocritically high tolerance for raunchy gags.

Out of all the depressing, lowbrow, dark, idiotic, repugnant family movies Eddie Murphy has created and then cursed cinema with. This is just another one of them. It's a stupid, trashy however passable flick. I'm pretty sure I saw a glimmer of heart once or twice.
