In 1974, THE DAVID STEINBERG SHOW entered the Canadian airwaves, with the inimitable comedian welcoming a variety of guests onto his fictional show. Similar to THE LARRY SANDERS SHOW, performers were shown both on and off stage, while recurrent characters such as musician Spider Reichman (John Candy) and security guard James MacGregor (Dave Thomas) added a modicum of continuity to each show.
