I have to agree here. As much as I enjoyed the remake, absolutely NOTHING can approach the greatness of the original, which I consider to be Romero's finest film of all time.

This re-make is seriously lacking in character development & story. The original classic had those, and action as well.

I don't agree that it's better than the original, but it is an accomplishment on its own merits. It avoids xeroxing the original (see: Van Sant's "Psycho"), but it doesn't deviate so far that it becomes a total disaster (see: Labute's "Wicker Man"). It's too bad that most of these horror remakes can't be as good as this one.

Also, awesome soundtrack.
