Good short animated film included on Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths running for 11 minutes as this title role of the film is a classic, though rather predictable, detective story. But the scenes involving the Spectre, glowing green eyes swirling cape and inhuman voice adding to air of creepiness, are genuinely scary with a couple of real shocks.

Very impressive version of "The Spectre," right down to the 70's theme, the fake grittiness of "film" and the content straight out of the old comic. Nice.

A great film noir style lacks in much else, the typical tone of narration is for a titular character whom has entirely lost his humanity, lacking his struggle to keep it makes for a very one-note story that doesn't really go anywhere.

Love the 70's feel as a crime-thriller TV show. Animation is spectacular that it comes close to Japanese animated movies.

The only entertaining part of The Spectre is see him killing people.

For those of you who don't know of the comic book character, Detective Jim Corrigan (voiced by Gary Cole), by night, acts as The Spectre, the spirit of vengeance who kills those that deserved it.

The Spectre is pretty much The Punisher, except instead of a black t-shirt with a skull, his costume is a green hooded cloak, and instead of using guns and other weapons to kill those he's wreaking vengenace upon, he uses his supernatural powers to posses objects, which are then creatively used to kill his victims. There is another difference between Punisher and Spectre, The Spectre literally is a spirit.

This DC short is styled like a noir film, complete with imperfections in the picture and a 1940s Hollywood setting. I have to say, the plot is very well done for this film, not being afraid to pull punches all throughout and having some terrific spine-tingling and suspensful moments, even if the murder-mystery feels a bit basic. If they stretched it out by 70 minutes, added more scenes and characters, then they would have a brilliant animated film.

This short is the perfect way to showcase a second-tier character like The Spectre onscreen, serving the character much better than any big budget live action film could. Watching this 11 minute short makes me want to know more about this character.
