Expanding on the realism that made its predecessor such a hit, the spin-off tackled a wide range of issues plaguing modern teens--from popularity, dating, and sex, to the death of a parent, domestic abuse, and drugs--with a groundbreaking frankness that influenced later teen soap operas such as BEVERLY HILLS 90210. This collection includes five powerful episodes from the series' third season: in the two-parter "Can't Live with 'Em," Wheels' (Neil Hope) parents are killed in a car accident; in "A Big Girl Now," Lucy (Anais Granofsky) feels pressure to sleep with her new boyfriend; in "Season's Greetings," Arthur (Duncan Waugh) and Yick (Siluck Saysanasy) exchange Christmas presents; and in "Loves Me, Loves Me Not," Caitlin (Stacie Mistysyn) develops a crush on Joey (Pat Mastroianni).
