Looking for a place of refuge, the boy, Tim, finds an empty summer home belonging to Tracy, a well-off and pretty young woman who has some troubles of her own. Tim, digging through Tracy's things, discovers her penchant for revealing lingerie and late-night rendezvous with her English teacher in a videotape she has left behind, as well as some pills and a handgun. Descending into a fantasy world fueled by Tracy's belongings, Tim's behavior becomes increasingly unstable until his fantasy is interrupted when an unexpected visitor arrives at the summer home.
