Neither a debacle nor a bore, The Departed works but only up to a point, and never emotionally.
Bone Machine, can you PM me the link? Was that rating entered by him? Also, I can't find his name in the BFCA member list.

It takes $100M & 2 years to make a picture from start to finish. It takes Hoberman one lonely evening to pompously tear it apart. Create something.

The Village Voice is sooo wrong. The movie is just phenomenal, probably the best movie I'll see this year.

Argh, it wasn't even that bad of a review! I hate it when RT does this!

Ambivalent reviews are J. Hoberman's specialty. I just don't like his writing. BTW, he loved The Brown Bunny and the Scooby Doo Movie.

Hoberman and the Village Voice have never been known for good taste in films.

Now having actually seen the movie, Hoberman's review does make sense; just not the score he gave it. I apoligize Hoberman.

I agree with your thumbs down, howerver I disagree about the boring part. Without DiCaprio's performance I'd have walked out.

I'm all for the "willful suspension of disbelief", but Leonardo DiCaprio playing a tough guy? Unforgiveable. Dreadfull movie.
