When Antoine, a successful gigolo with a sick fish, has to leave the country for a few weeks, he offers Deuce the opportunity to housesit for him. Predictably, Deuce manages to trash the place and must enlist the aid of pimp TJ (Eddie Griffin) to help him pay for the damages. TJ turns him, in a series of absurd preparations, into a prostitute. The subsequent encounters with self-conscious females provide the film with its biggest laughs, and eventual moral: enable a woman to feel confident about herself and she will learn to love you no matter what you look like. The problem with Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo is the low level of its low humor.

The problem is that Schneider restores to using situations will very bland, stereotypical characterization that only work for about five to ten minutes.

The story of a schmo who finds love by prostituting himself is actually funnier than it deserves to be, not to mention rather sweet in a sophomoric, manwhore - with - a - heart - of - gold kind of way.

My biggest complaint about Adam Sandler has always been that he is lazy. His movies read like they were ad-libbed during an all-night beer bash.

Rob Schneider certainly has what it takes to play a doofy, soft-bodied poseur hustler, but this dim farce makes the mistake of setting him up with a series of tricks even lowlier and more pathetic than he is.

The good news is Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, an insufferably insipid comedy with a cruel subtext, is only 84 minutes long.

Deuce Bigalow, like the SNL routines it models itself after, starts off funny but doesn't know when to end.
