Devil's Doorway (2003)
This unusual western follows the travails of a Shoshone Indian who wins the Congressional Medal of Honor for fighting in the Civil War and returns to his Wyoming home. There he finds trouble when he encounters an Indian-hating lawyer who allows homesteaders to settle on sacred Indian land.

Critic Reviews for Devil's Doorway
Mann somehow creates a brutal tension simply from this visual presentation of themes, perhaps because the issues at stake here are so emotional.
Audience Reviews for Devil's Doorway
remarkably enlightened western for 1950 in spite of robert taylor's cheesy performance as an indian. he's a shoshone civil war hero who comes home to fight for his ancestral land...with a female attorney. naturally things don't go well. anthony mann called this the best script he ever read. i got sucked into this one lolMore
