I grew up with Vogue and could never really figure out why it was such a fascinating magazine, even for a child. Watching this film will give you the jist of the matter. See the film and, by all means, also read DV. Vreeland was oxygen.

A surprisingly compelling biopic about the high priestess of 20th Century fashion.

Simply Super! Meant as a celebration of Diana Vreeland, THE EYE HAS TO TRAVEL will make feel totally different about life and enjoying all that comes. This not an insightful or deep film, but a total celebration of a woman who not only changed fashion but lived life to the fullest. I never knew Vreeland could be an inspiration but she is!

A fascinating life. I just wish they had connected her work to a historical context beyond fashion.

Wow! I did not really enjoy this movie at all. I got bored. I can only hear about how fabulous and out there someone was for so long. Show me don't tell me! I did like the story about how she pushed for a taller wig - now that's a great detail. I wanted this to go deeper. She never let people get that deep. Boring! It was up to the filmmakers to dig deeper and find some sort of arc and some sort of surprise. As it is, it's like a video that would play on a monitor in a museum as people stand for a few minutes, then walk away.

A great documentary IF you love fashion.
As a breakdown I would say this documentary is 12% life story and 88% stunning fashion pictures. If you love browsing fashion magazines this movie will end all too soon. If (like me) you burn out on fashion pictures after a half hour or so... about an hour in your going to be tempted to break out a game app on your smart phone.

This is one of my favorite movies of the year, and definitely my favorite documentary. I have zero interest in fashion, but this one is more a celebration of a personality than anything.

Those who enjoy fashion and the visual arts will be mesmerized by the amount of information and insight this documentary provides on Diana Vreeland. Those who focus more on history, politics and human interaction will be equally captivated by this well crafted film. You will be entertained and walk away with admiration for this influential and impressive powerhouse.

Diana Vreeland was one of the most influencial people of the 20th C. Her influence on the fashion industry, as well as her establishment of available resources for students of fashion, costume, theater, and history are unparalelled. This documentary is probably worth seeing!

Loved every minute of this film! A glorious tribute to the life and legacy of Mrs. Vreeland and the filmmakers did an equally amazing job with the editing and look of the movie. A must see for anyone in the fashion industry, or who loves docs!
