That is an entirely bizarre choice for #1. But on a list that also includes Die Hard, Stalag 17, and Lethal Weapon, bizarre seems to be the name of the game here.

I've always claimed Die Hard to be the best Xmas movie, but Nightmare is pretty awesome too I suppose.

Perfect choice for the number 1 Christmas movie.

I watch Die Hard every Christmas. There were some good choices on here, though personally, I've always thought the climax of Leathal Weapon ruined the movie. Why leave two cops out front to die if you have him trapped anyway?

A pretty good list, and yes TNBC deserved the #1 spot.

Heh I always wondered that too. Why let these guys fight a criminal who's already caught? Step in, break it up and arrest the prick. Its still a classic movie though.

I'm very glad to see "Die Hard" on a Christmas movie list. However, the list is missing "The Ref", an excellent Christmas movie.

I guess I'm just broken, I can't stand The Nightmare Before Christmas. For me, Elf & National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation are my key yearly movies.

*sigh* Once again Brazil fails to make a Christmas Movie List. I will settle for TNBC because it probably is my favorite Christmas movie.

TNBC deserves that top spot (I watch it multiple times starting at Halloween through Christmas!), but the rest of the list rankings are kind of strange.

A Christmas Story should've been way higher. And as everyone else is commenting, where's Chevy Chase?

Well, without adjustment, Christmas Vacation has only a 62% Tomatometer. Them's the breaks.

All I have to say is... Where the heck is GREMLINS?!?!? Also, I am fully with in line with puablo on The Nightmare Before Christmas issue - I hate it. I think it is tedious at best and vastly overrated.

I think that the musical Scrooge should be on the list if for no other reason than Albert Finney's perfect performance of Scrooge and Alec Guinness as Marley. Incredible sets, great music and just the right amount of humour make this one of my all time favourite Christmas movies. If this movie doesn't put you in the Christmas spirit than you need to hung by your toes by the ghost of Charles Dickens.

There is never enough time to do or say all the things that you wish.
The thing is to try and do as much as you can in the time that you have.
Remember Scrooge, time is short, and suddenly you're not here anymore.

I always like how they rate these christmas movies and none of our favorites hit the top, like Christmas Vacation or Home Alone.

I think it has to do with having more of a sentimental value to the movies rather then what the critics think. Christmas Vacation is the first movie our family watches on Christmas day, along with Home Alone 1 and 2. Our family usually watches Jingle All the Way, somewhere in the time before Christmas comes and that will never be on any top list. Its just a classic among the family. And we love to laugh at Ahnold doing his best at acting.

NBC is a great movie for both Halloween and Christmas but I've always loved "Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas" as my fav. holiday movie, either the cartoon or the Ron Howard version. Also, I've never considered "It's a Wonderful Life" as a xmas movie. The xmas theme is just a backdrop in that film.

It's A Wonderful Life is not a Christmas movie? Then what is Lethal Weapon?

Wonderful Life for number won. I don't have an all-time best movie, and I'm not just talking Christmas, but I can't think of any movie that is more moving, better acted, or that feels so authentic. Okay, the angel overdid his part maybe. They should remaster the ending with Dana Carvey in the lead and make that mean banker take it in the head with a clothes iron.

Very bad list in my opinion. TNBC has always been overrated. I saw it when it first came out and was unimpressed. Most people who claim to like it only like because it is "cool" to like Tim Burton. Tim Burton has only make like 2 good movies, Edward Scissorhands and Big Fish. I haven't seen Sweeney Todd yet, but I have a feeling that will be his third.
Christmas Story should have been higher, add Scrooged, Christmas Vacation and a Very Brady Christmas (just joking on the last one).

I'm happy to see Die Hard on the list, its one of my favorite action films. And TNBC is the greatest movie, and number one on my top five list. Elf was ok. It had its moments.

Where's Edward Scissorhands? Remember, it takes place at Christmas, at least the last part of it does. Strange list, no White Christmas? I will agree with TBC, however, one of Burton's best.

I like TNBC but not for Tim Burton, for Danny Elfman's music. As for choices of mine that's are not on the list, I think they would have to do a separate list for gorehounds like myself who would have Santa's Slay, Jack Frost 1 and 2 (the killer snowman, not that M Keaton snowman flick), and Silent Night Bloody Night. For me, a Christmas movie should be a break for all the "peace on earth, goodwill towards men" that you get from all the other movies and shows put on during the holiday.

As much as I love TNBC, number one has to be a tie between Christmas story and it's a wonderful life. They are just perfect. TNBC is also great, but it's two holidays at the same time, and I still feel it's a more Halloween movie. But what's with all the action films? None of them really strike me as "christmas films".
