As presented here, Disraeli was an arrogant, scheming, self-promoting opportunist who exploited the generous connections of the rich and influential to engineer his rise in politics.

A wealth of political detail is combined with a surprisingly moving, affectionate romance, making Disraeli quite satisfying for both history buffs and more traditional Masterpiece Theatre viewers.
