Picture Gallery of the Week: Iron Man 2, featuring Mickey Rourke Only one new addition to the Iron Man 2 gallery this week, but it's a big one. Marvel and Paramount have issued the first picture of Mickey Rourke as Ivan Vanko aka Whiplash, one of the villains in the May 2010 superhero epic. Browse the gallery. And then read the excellent /film post detailing how the first official Iron Man 2 photo might relate to this new Rourke one. |

Posters
Poster(s) of the Week: District 9 outside art I think advertisers overestimate how much we enjoy being subjected to viral marketing (it really needs to be backed up with a better-than-average movie), but I'm digging the District 9 propaganda bus ads and billboards. We added three of them to the District 9 gallery this week and you've probably seen them around your neck of the woods. They're eye-grabbing, cool, creepy, and funny, while effectively communicating the film's premise of a world uneasily co-existing with aliens. View the posters. |

Videos
Video of the Week: Toy Story 3 teaser trailer Toy Story came out in 1995. Think about that for a second. In a time when studios are churning out disposable family entertainment that loses its relevance even before DVD release, Pixar has the gall to presume we're still caught up in these characters 15 years after the fact. And you know what? I guess we are. The way the bloggers and critics have heralded this delightful, charming teaser is testament to Pixar's unparalleled knack in maintaining our interest in their art year after year. Watch the video. |

Chris B. writes: on Jun 12 2009 09:09 PM the clash of the titans pics are old but they look good so far and the mickey rourke/whiplash pic looks good too, as i'm pretty sure that just the prototype of his suit, not the finished one. to be honest i think another movie with madea in it is too early. they should wait till next year to release it. the toy story 3 teaser is also looking awesome. Scarborough Fair writes: on Jun 13 2009 10:45 PM In reply to this comment (#2512832) Oh, is it too early for another Madea film, ChrisB? Is that your 'opinion' on the matter? Here's my opinion: what wait another minute to enter a theater, forget yourself and your problems, and just enter Madea's world? Watching a Madea movie is like spending time in an opium den. You never know what magic will be conjured before you...where your mind might go in that darkened room. Too soon? I think not. If you're referring to Madea's commanding performance in this summer's Star Trek Film, then I think you're getting your characters confused with the actors that portray them. J.Jay Abrams begged Tyler Perry to be in HIS film. That doesn't make it a Madea filme (it isn't called Tyler Perry's Star Trek, is it?) Kill yourself, ChrisB. That is all I have to say on that subject. Also, I agree with you. Rourke's suit in that pic is probably just a prototype of some sort that he's wearing at a Nascar Event just for kicks. De4ective Detectiv3 writes: on Jun 14 2009 03:54 PM Madea is almost as bad as watching big momma's house or the nutty professor. How many of these movies can Tyler Perry churn out in a year. He's just running out of places to go, and if I didn't know better, I would say he was a one trick pony, but then again, this has all been done before... @ Scarborough Fair By any chance are you an older black lady? Let me geuss, every time one of his movies come out you go to see it w/ your church group. (Reply to this) |

whitey_mcwhite writes: on Jun 15 2009 11:40 AM Disregarding all of the stupid comments that have come before about a Madea movie (I mean to say that I'm not responding to Scarborough Fair because they're either weirdly sarcastic or just plain stupid) I just wanted to comment about the Madea poster. Is it just me or does that poster have a similarity to the poster for Paul Thomas Anderson's Magnolia? (Reply to this) |
