Magnolia Digs Into the Crayon Box
You probably know Magnolia Pictures as the distributor of foreign/arthouse fare like "District B13," "Bubble," and "Capturing the Friedmans" -- but there's no good reason they can't get into the Family Movie game. They recently bought the U.S. rights to Exodus Film's "The Hero of Color City," which is about a bunch of heroic... crayons.
From Variety: "Magnolia Pictures, the distribution arm of 2929 Entertainment, has picked up North American rights to Exodus Film Group's in-development CG-animated feature "The Hero of Color City."
Script by J.P. McCormick and Rich Raczelowski follows the adventures of a diverse band of crayons as they strive to protect their magical, multihued homeland from an evil tyrant. With various personalities, the crayons move between two worlds: the magical realm of Color City and the "real world" where they work at a preschool."
I bet the DVD comes with a sharpener on the back.
