[A] sentimental, humourless, badly acted comedy ...
Elephants, seahorses, geese and all other sentient lifeforms will indeed pray for mercy during this acutely dismal British romantic drama.
The film's giant cliché about the natural life versus commercialism would be more effective if the girl skipping about like an overactive lamb was not such a pill.
Films about spiritual journeys should be celebrated, as they force us to explore deeper truths about our lives, but this one veers unevenly from comedy to drama to romance as it heads for a less-than-revelatory conclusion.
This is not a film for anyone's showreel.
So, do elephants pray? Who cares!
Enjoyable but slight.
Paul Hills' wishy-washy Brit debut feels like it was adapted from something you might find inside a fortune cookie.
