Jobless Leila ha a problem. Her mother has finally died and now she needs some quick cash to pay for the funeral. This comedy, set on New York's Lower East Side, centers on her crazy search for easy money. The first thing she does is attempt to hold a fund-raising party and try to sell the personal effects of her unemployed roommates Stephanie, Amina and recently, Gypsy, a first-class weirdo. Unfortuantely, they don't make nearly enough dough so then Leila hatches a better scheme. With the help of professional bookie Sammy, she and the gals will set up their own bookmaking operation. Unfortunately, things don't quite come off as planned.more
