They break into three safe-deposit boxes stowed inside a German bank and steal more than a million dollars from an assortment of high-level crooks. Unfortunately for them, the crooks get wind of the theft, and the result is a wild chase that takes the pair across Germany with gamblers, black marketeers, and drug traffickers on their tail. Director Richard Brooks serves up a stylish and atmospheric vision of after-hours Hamburg, ripe with exotic dancers, drug smuggling, and kinky sex. Goldie Hawn scampers and struts across the screen while Beatty poses cool and calculating, orchestrating the heist of a lifetime. [More]

  • Superstars Warren Beatty and Goldie Hawn both took on the mantle of Robin Hood as they set out to fleece the criminally over-privileged (drug dealers, racketeers, gamblers, etc.) of $1 million from a safe-deposit vault in Hamburg. He's a security expert, she's a hooker. Together they made a dynamite combination at the box-office.

Cutting more rapidly than usual, [Brooks] kept the action moving fairly entertainingly for most of the movie, with includes a long and spectacular car chase.

A pleasant, somewhat underrated chase movie.

Beatty and Hawn carry this fun little heist/comedy picture for the first hour, but then the whole affair gets a little tiring.

Better known for his serious dramas, Richard Brooks might not have bene the right choice for this minor and fluffy heist flick, but it stars Warren Beatty and Goldie Hawn, who are at their most physically appealing.

The comedy sits uneasily with the admittedly efficient action scenes, although at least here we have none of the usual Brooks sermonising to dilute the brew.

Warren Beatty and Goldie Hawn are weirdly interesting together.
