The real problem here is the characters' utter blandness of conception.

Though Ken Scarborough's script is hardly heavy on adult references, it does feel slightly smarter than most cartoon scripts.

A daydreamer who just wants to do the right thing, Doug is a great role model for kids.

The cinematic equivalent of elevator music -- terminally bland but with just enough familiar parts to keep you from falling asleep.
