Keith L @Barney2017 Feb 16 One of my favorite movies centered around football. The story/plot is what makes it so good. It's like Devine intervention was there all along. Plus a pretty awesome and large cast of people that actually fit their part. Sorry to be so corny. See more Victor O Dec 14 I’m not the biggest fan of Kevin Costner, but I do enjoy an all-star cast, and this movie appeared to have it in spades with great men and women from film and TV. Plus, a movie about the comings and goings of the NFL draft season does make for a cool story if it is told right and I was ready to watch. I like football but I’m not the most observant in the comings and goings of the sport, but this was pretty cool. Costner was fine, but its everyone else that does a great job in making this movie work. Jennifer Garner, Dennis Leary, Frank Langella, Ellen Burnstyn, and so many others make this movie so well. A star studded cast of familar faces, interesting subject matter, seems like a huge waste to do a movoe over the Browns... maybe do it over the Cowboys when they traded herschel walker in 1989 for picks they won the superbowl with the very next season and created a dynasty. Some of the real life trading in players like commodities is not far off. Lots of twists, action, intrigue, suspense and drama. It seems like whoever wrote it wanted it to be a gritty, "Ballers" realistic style movie with hard nosed businessmen trading in flesh for high stakes under the biggest spotlight, but it ended up feeling like a VERY PG-13 compromise. I guess that was necessary if it were to be done with a Roger Goodell cameo and the NFL's blessing. It's also a touch off-putting to see Jennifer Garner's by this time increasingly "worked on" face struggling to emote. The whole thing felt like a bowling game with bumpers on.
