It's a compelling work about loneliness and two ways of dealing with it.

Reviews for The Dreamlife of Angels
We aren't just watching Isa and Marie endure the tiny triumphs and hardships of their lives; we're experiencing those ups and downs alongside them.
Zonca's lyrical cinema verite style magnifies the small tensions and flare-ups that can blow apart a friendship in the blink of an eye.
Allows the viewer to not only see, but experience the pain of these characters.
Just a bunch of uninteresting characters who spend their time co-existing in an uneasy friendship, smoking too much, and having sex with people who are even worse than them.
The movie understands what few American movies admit: Not everyone can afford the luxury of following their hearts.
At once an intriguing mix of naivete and world-weariness, Bouchez and Regnier make us care about two young women.
There is an inspiring freshness to the film, even with the real-life pain and angst the characters endure.
There's not a single encounter in The Dreamlife of Angels that isn't vivid and emotionally full.
A sensitive, straightforward film that thankfully avoids sentimentality but nevertheless leaves a visceral impact on its viewers.
Two unforgettable characters are revealed, and the truth resonates powerfully through their stories.
While that's not enough to make me go crazy over this one (like some people), it is enough for me to genuflect quite a bit in awe of good characters and good details done.
The dreamlife of Angels (La Vie rêvée des anges) is a story of capitalistic and sexual exploitation, rage, rebellion, and the search for meaning in everyday things.
