Let me get this right... you gave Prometheus a "Fresh" rating... and not Dredd? Tell me why you are a "Top Critic" again?

Kyle Smith, you are not a fan of action movies. Obviously. First of all, THIS IS NOT A REMAKE. You fool. This is no more a remake than Batman Begins is a remake of the 60's Adam West TV series. You stupid, stupid idiot.

And yes, the plot of many action films is "shoot bad guy, shoot bad guy" That's why they're action films! Except this one does it with flair, color, interesting composition and just plain badassery. Kyle, you suck and so do your reviews.

I would like to point out that this guys review mentions how the main character's solutions to everything is shoot everyone on sight. He doesn't seem to see the satire in the "Third Reich-ish" Hall of Justice or in Dredd's over-investment in the corrupt law. He also takes the line about Judges standing between the city and chaos a little too literally and doesn't even see Dredd as a flawed anti-hero. On top of that he states that the "climactic confrontation with Ma-Ma, isnā??t very climactic,". Well if you watched the movie you'd understand that Ma-ma isn't the kind of villain who would have staged an epic battle against Dredd. She's more like the Joker in The Dark Knight and as you stated in your review of The Dark Knight, "HEATH'S JOKER STEALS THE NEW BATMAN MOVIE". There actually was a climactic battle in the movie which you mentioned with this "but itā??s hard to care which faceless authoritarian maniac shoots which faceless authoritarian maniac." I don't understand his point because that particular scene involved Dredd and basically a disguised gun for hire who wasn't a faceless authoritarian maniac. To me this critic seems like someone who doesn't read between lines or even take the time to perform a proper analysis on movies. So my question is why is he a top critic if he doesn't properly critique movies? I would prefer it if Top Critics were actually critical of movies in the right ways and didn't dismiss movies which probably didn't offer to pay them off.

They call him Judge, His last name is Dredd!
Break the law and you wind up dead!

Truth and justice are what he's fighting for!
Judge Dredd the man, he is the law!
With gun and bike, he rules the streets!
Every perp he meets will taste defeat!

The book of law is the Bible to him!
Any crime committed is a sin!
He keeps peace with his law-giver!
Judge, jury, and executioner!

Respect the badge!
He earned it with his blood.
Fear the gun!
Your sentence may be death because...

The film opened here yesterday and I took the time to go and enjoy it. As far as i am concerned this reviewer should stick to reviewing the Indie films which are his first on it would seem, only love.

Take my advice, Kyle. Spend less time thinking of pithy one liners to show how educated you are, and spend more time on watching a movie. You may have found it an ugly movie in an ugly world. Guess what, that is the reality of Dredd. If you wanted less harsh, better designed Versace inspired vision of beauty, Stallone did that in '95.
