Audience Reviews for Dungeons of Harrow

After a shipwreck an aristocrat washes up on a deserted island where a paranoid madman rules from his castle, sentencing all who oppose him to the title dungeon. It's well-meaning attempt to create an original story in the style of Edgar Allen Poe, but it's a failure nonetheless. With double the budget, some script doctoring to clean up the sloppy dialogue, Vincent Price as the villain, and a cople pots of coffee to wake the rest of the cast from their stupor, it could have made for an average movie.

Super Reviewer

The whole affair is ridiculously cheap and bare-bones, but there's a charm here that I really couldn't ignore, and I thought the whole thing felt like a story out of an old Creepy Magazine.

Rental?

Reminds me of the old TV horror soap opera Dark Shadows, only with poorer scripts and a less talented cast. The story idea had some potential but the script was really weak. The color is so weak that it sometimes looked almost like a b/w film. The sound quality is also rather poor. The SFX models look like something from a early talkie. For the most part, the attempts at both gore and horror were not really successful. *WARNING SPOILER FOLLOWS* Leprosy is in reality far less infectious than the story suggests, so there is virtually no chance that the hero would catch leprosy from his single exposure or even months of exposure. In my opinion, this movie is not worth watching.
