One of the most smug and obnoxiously self-aware films I've ever seen...
How is this movie smug? It deals with issues of religion, family, and social abnormalities in a very realist way. There is nothing smug about it. I agree it is 'self-aware' but that is how the screenplay was written. It is supposed to be a self-aware film. You seem to be more against the genre and/or film-type than the actual contextual value of the film.

I couldn't agree more! I thought it was truly gawd-awful, and simply astounded that everyone seems to love it. Emma Stone = cute as a button, though.

Dead on with that review. I can't believe so many people love this movie.

So true! I completely agree with this review. Every character in the film is a smug, sarcastic smart ass.

Clearly you are the smug one. A part from the fact that the majority of Top Critics, which, by the way you are not a part of, loved it; This movie has a lot going for it! It's sassy, cute and funny!! I watched it several times and I still found it funny, even by the third time. To me that is a sign of a good movie, one that can still be enjoyed after multiple viewing.

Comedy really? I didn't laugh, not once. Emma Stone seen her in two movies exactly the same. This character is suppose to be 17, ok she's smarter then the average but still. For me it lacked charm. I'm so tired of this Hollywood PR who makes choices for us regarding actors to like or not.

I only laughed once (during the Pocketfull of Sunshine song scene), the rest was just... ok. And their maaany attemps to make sarcastic and intelligent jokes totally had the opposit effect, since I couldn't actually BELIEVE in those scenes.

I'm so sad that I HAVE to agree with everything you said. Their family jokes where beyond the "real world", it was funny but I was like "do you really expect me to believe that this kind f thing exists?"
I love Emma Stone, and there are moments (like the Pocketfull of sunshine) that are just hilarious, thanks to her, but the rest... just "meh" thanks to the hole story. And the fact that she's "proud" to wear the A and admit she's a slut (that's what she was, her blond friend was right) it's really weird and makes me kinda hate Olive.

Okay, if you are defending "Easy A", you aren't a cinephile and shouldn't argue with one. This is a very flawed film, but it is a personal decision if you thought it overcame the clichés. Sure, this critic doesn't analyze the rest in this one sentence, but what he did mention is what had the most impact on him from the film. I thought the film was all right (6.5/10), but I can definitely see where he is coming from with this. Thusly making the people who stick up for this film, the most smug and obnoxious fans of this film.

Yes, yes, yes. All true. And still it was fun to watch.
