Disappointing and hollow.

So blandly targeted at the upper-middle class urbanite that it always fails to excite. It might be upscale, but it's a bit stale.

for the most part In the City leaves its characters just as we found them

The focus is squarely on the people, not any plot mechanics, and the result is a deeply internalised drama about the unspoken awkwardness in all relationships.
