End of Watch is a standout Excellent sleeper, it was easily one of the better movies of this Incredibly WEAK year. That being said, one way or the other Academy recognition would/could be warranted, but let's not go that far. Dredd was Decent but severely over-rated vs the tomatometer bar none.

End of Watch was amazing, Dredd was mind numbing. I actually liked the original better. Rest of the films on this list I haven't seen so can't comment on.

Premium Rush was one of the missed gems of the year (even the Obama doc did better than this?!!!). The action and chases were tense and Gordon-Levitt & Shannon were in top form. Also thought Dredd needed more attention, since it was called a Raid-ripoff & everyone was more busy with another, rather terrible ripoff starring Katniss.

I loved End of Watch. It's one of my top 5 favourite movies of the year. And Dredd is is my top 10. Granted I have yet to see Life of Pi, Skyfall, Master or Zero Dark Thirty so my opinion must be taken with a grain of salt.

I agree with End of Watch, that is arguably my favorite film of the year. Don't think I've seen any of the other ones besides Dredd, which kicked a**.

"This Means War"? Seriously? Reese Witherspoon in another crappy movie - has she been in anything remotely decent? Ever? Bad actress (her Oscar's a joke). Terrible movie.

Dredd and End of Watch were easily two of the most overlooked movies of the year. They were such great movies.

My personal favourite for the year was the Norwegian film "Oslo, August 31st". Beautifully shot, acted, and directed. If you're cool with the subtitles and rough subject matter (a lot of unease related to coming to terms with addiction), it's more than worth your time.

'People like us' is totally under appreciated.. for me it is 4 stars out of 5.. What's wrong with a melodrama and a little unique plot..

"The Grey" is my favorite film from 2012, and I feel it is underappreciated by most filmgoers.

In Jeff Who Lives At Home Susan Sarandon gives a supporting actress performance that I'd bet has all other actresses drooling.

She was also great this year as Richard Gere's wife in ARBITRAGE, you should see that too!
