Audience Reviews for Endless Descent
Endless Descent is about a government submarine (along with its crew) that goes down deep in the depths of the ocean. Some shady government types enlist the submarine's designer (Jack Scalia) do board it's sister sub along with an experienced crew, their new no-nonsense captain (R. Lee Ermey, whose really terrific in this), a fellow sub expert (Ray Wise), and his ex-wife (Deborah Adair). As the crew tries to solve the mystery of the first submarine, they are attacked by strange beings underwater, which are monstrous mutations that killed off the first crew. Sure enough, bodies start to pile up in quick, silly fashion. I was already content with having the likes of R. Lee Ermey and Ray Wise in this low budget Sci-fi horror film, but the rest of the cast managed to be a lot of fun to watch as well, especially Skeets, the token black guy who, surprisingly doesn't die first, but DOES have the funniest death scene in the whole film. The effects, both creature and special, are heavily dated, but fun to watch (as these kinds of films were the ones of my childhood). R. Lee Ermey even gets to have a very lengthy and good role as the ship's hard-nosed captain whose character evolves throughout the film into someone you really enjoy. I'm happy to have finally watched this movie and can only hope that it gets released on DVD one day. Great film.
