Muscle-bound, heavily-accented John Kruger is employed by the Witness Protection Program as an "eraser." In other words, he wipes out a witness's identity in order to save him or her from potential harm. One such person is beautiful Lee Cullen, who possesses vital information regarding super high-tech weapons -- and a government conspiracy connected to them. Krueger's job protecting Cullen will lead to some action-packed, death-defying adventures for the pair, as gunmen and goons and even alligators seem to be waiting for them around every corner. Furthermore, a traitor within the Witness Protection Program is hell-bent on violently erasing Krueger himself. [More]

It's a movie constructed around three or four self-consciously 'cool' episodes, and passably entertaining as such, but there's also an awful lot of uncool contrivance, coincidence and contempt for the audience.

Williams isn't required to do much more than look beleaguered and beautiful, which she does admirably.

Is it just me, or is Arnold Schwarzenegger's accent getting worse? I think it is, as is his acting ability, as well as his choice of films to star in.

James Caan is good as the heavy, but the movie degenerates into routine comic-book mayhem.

Caan's character is great, Robert Pastorelli's ex-wiseguy is enlisted to help and provide a little stereotype comic relief and Arnold makes a mid-air exit from an airplane that makes for one groovy action sequence.

We've seen Schwarzenegger do all this before, and in films superior to this passable but workmanlike effort.

Schwarzenegger delivers big action, big stunts and high-tech suspense, but Eraser ultimately fails to thrill.

Arnold Schwarzenegger tries his hardest to look formidable, forbidding and stern in Eraser, but what he mostly looks is tired.
