This was the best possible way for Clint Eastwood to retire from westerns. He gave his first really unique directing job and one of his better performances. Gene Hackman and Morgan Freeman also gave strong performances. In many ways it is also the death of the American Western, taking all the glory out of gunslingers. However, it honors the genre in every way possible. It's shot beautifully and uses all the great tension filled techniques. The scene with English Bob in the jail is amazing still.

Million Dollar Baby-
Not just another boxing movie, it's a truly amazing story of determination. The performances are all incredible, not one person in the movie gave a lackluster effort. The plot is extremely well executed and done on an emotional level. Clint Eastwood has really attained a great sense of style over the years and become an amazing director.
Mystic River-
Such an amazing movie in every way. The performances are all flawless, the plot is both realistic and tragic and the directing is phenomenal. Sean Penn is really scary and intimidating, which his character needed to be. The morbid feeling of the entire film is extremely unique and it captures a part of the city that you don't usually see. This is really the movie where Clint Eastwood became the director he is today, it is just a flawless movie.
