Critic Review -

The disappointment I felt at the end of Eternal Sunshine was almost crushing, simply because there were sections of it that were as daring in their emotional directness as anything I've seen in years.

There's actually lots of good thoughts in her review. It's just upsetting that she didn't like it as much as I did.

A valid assessment, even if I don't agree. Kudos for the apt analysis!

I'm about six years late to the party, but I had to say a few things about your review. First of all, too many spoilers. There is a joy in fitting the puzzle pieces of this film together, while actually watching it, which this steals from potential viewers.

As for the "comic relief" characters, I disagree with their importance in the film. Yeah, they were goofy - but Dunst becomes a heroine of sorts and her own story isn't always funny. This subplot mirrors the general theme that we have no control over which people steal our hearts.

And I think the ending would be "devastating" either way - as something had been lost, no matter what the future holds....

Is it just me, or is this a mislabeled compliment?

I'm not even gonna disagree with your very disagreeable review. I would however advise you to change your stock vector profile picture, because it looks very amateurish, and I for one cannot take anything you write seriously.
