This is actually the most science-based science fiction television program ever produced. On a high note, it is not (directly) militaristic, and shootout scenes are rare. It's about daily life in a town whose lifeblood is science. While the science in the series runs towards speculation and fantasy - that is, not hard
science - the science facts discussed are for the most part accurate. Thus if your interest in science fiction, like mine, is in how our lives might be transformed by science, then this is definitively the series for you. By the way, the characters are engaging (or if not, as in the case of Nathan Stark, for example, then skilfully acted), the speculations interesting and sometimes enthralling, and the concept superlative. This is science fiction as it should be. By the way, I enjoy BSG, Stargate Atlantis, Dollhouse, Sarah Connor Chronicles, Firefly, etc., but Eureka hits the mark of speculative science-based fiction more accurately than all the others.
