Trailer Bulletin: William Friedkin's "Bug"
by Scott Weinberg | August 22, 2006
Discuss Article
When a new horror movie shows up that was directed by the man who helmed "The Exorcist," it's probably a movie worth checking out. Then again, William Friedkin did direct "The Guardian," so obviously nothing is guaranteed.

Synopsis: "A lonely waitress with a tragic past, Agnes rooms in a run-down motel, living in fear of her abusive, recently paroled ex-husband. But when Agnes begins a tentative romance with Peter, an eccentric, nervous drifter, she starts to feel hopeful again--until the first bugs arrive."

Check out the trailer right here.

Michael Shannon, Harry Connick Jr. and Ashley Judd star.

Written by Tracy Letts (based on his own stage play), "Bug" opens this December.

Do some research. Tracy Letts is a MAN. He's a Chicago based actor and playwright.

Get your facts straight.

Ah yes, the politeness of the internet.

I'd thank you for the correction, but for some reason I don't feel up to it.

Does it make you feel better to talk down to people over the internet?

I have to say, this didn't look scary at all. I also think marketing departments are horrible at putting together good trailers, so I'll still see it, but that guy saying in a serious voice "They feed on your brain" or whatever just made me laugh.

I really, really want this to be good.

I'm sorry for my harsh remarks. It was uncalled for. I was only angry because I am a big fan of Lett's, and admire his work.

As for the movie, I'm interested to see if Friedkin can capture the essence of this piece without making it feel "stagy," which is always the risk with play adaptations.

Again, sorry for the venom.
