...Still a thrill to watch after all these years, so full it's hard to absorb in one showing, so affecting it will still keep you awake at night. But maybe for different reasons.

With a digitally remastered soundtrack including new sound effects and new music along with never-before-seen restored footage, THE EXORCIST: THE VERSION YOU'VE NEVER SEEN pays tribute to this terrifying film, originally released on Christmas Day in 1973. It tells the story of Regan (Linda Blair), a little girl who becomes possessed by the devil and undergoes a violent exorcism conducted by two priests: an aging man at the end of his career (Max Von Sydow) and a young man having a crisis of conscience (Jason Miller). A blood-chilling film directed by William Friedkin and written by William Peter Blatty, this enhanced restoration of the original will thrill audiences anew. [More]

Reviews for The Exorcist: The Version You've Never Seen
A horror film that stands the test of time and still gets under the skin.
The Exorcist remains the standard by which all other horror movies are judged.
I went prepared to be scared, and woke up sleep-walking two nights in a row after I saw it. Isn't that what horror movies are supposed to do?
The 11 minutes aside, what really makes this version worth catching on the big screen is the enhanced print. Digital cleaning has given shape and (horrific) form to the subliminal images peppered throughout.
Those who remember the film from its original run will be surprised by the power with which the new and improved version resurfaces the old frightful memories.
Despite this stumble at the end, The Exorcist remains a film of considerable potency.
In an era when many films compete to scare the hell out of you, The Exorcist remains one of the few able to successfully scare the hell into you, a feat which assuredly deserves another go-round.
