When their abbey is faced with closure, nuns Ana and Angela -- who also happen to be lovers -- must come up with prestigious sponsorship of some sort in order to save it. Sister Angela soon hatches an ingenious plan, which Ana reluctantly helps her bring to fruition. Angela's idea is to con the world into believing that she has received the stigmata -- marks resembling the wounds on the crucified body of Christ -- on her hand.
