A passionate, clearly articulated, if sloppily structured indictment of the president, his ties to the bin Laden family, his relentless push for war in Iraq and, as portrayed by Moore, an ineptitude bordering on the criminal.

Academy Award-winning director Michael Moore examines the Bush administration's financial ties to Saudi Arabia and the bin Laden family in FAHRENHEIT 9/11, a well-researched, fast-paced, highly controversial, and important documentary that won the Palme d'Or at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival. Using actual footage and declassified documents, Moore takes a detailed look into political events both before and after the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, beginning with the polarizing Supreme Court decision that ultimately gave the state of Florida and the 2000 election to George W. Bush. Moore reveals how the U.S. government helped the bin Laden family return to Saudi Arabia immediately after September 11, when all other flights were still grounded; and examines military recruiting techniques in such poor areas as his own hometown of Flint, Michigan. He even attempts to get congressmen to enlist their own sons and daughters into the military. The writer-director also visits with the troops, including at a VA hospital where soldiers are having second thoughts about America's involvement in Iraq, and spends time with a family whose eldest son is fighting in Iraq. FAHRENHEIT 9/11 is a worthy successor to Moore's previous documentaries, ROGER & ME, THE BIG ONE, and BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE, once again shining a light on the past, present, and future of the US. Reviews for Fahrenheit 9/11
Moore makes a persuasive and unrelenting case that there is another way to look at things beyond the version we've been given.
Should be seen because it takes off the gloves and wades into the fray, because it synthesizes the anti-Bush argument like no other work before it, and because it forces you to decide for yourself exactly where passion starts to warp point of view.
If Moore had narrowed his focus and spent time on his numerous assertions, this could have been a great film. As it stands now, Fahrenheit 9/11 is an unfocused mess.
Its politics notwithstanding, the art of Fahrenheit 9/11 is extraordinary.
The result is a scary, funny, moving and angry film is perhaps the most devastating item leveled at a sitting U.S. President since the days of Watergate.
...see if you don't cringe when you see Bush talk to the media about being dedicated to fighting terrorism and segue into "Now watch this drive!" as he tees off.
Shame on Michael Moore for his sloppy, sprawling film. Shame on W. for being such a reprehensible dimwit target that the existence of such a film is possible.
It’s less about catching officials off guard than about showing how the nation’s number one official is permanently off guard.
Say what you will about Moore's politics, but he knows how to make a good movie.
Childishly simplistic... it runs in circles willy-nilly, throwing in the occasional cheap shot while breathlessly telling us stuff we already knew.
Makes you want to go straight to the White House and punch everyone in the gut.
this is a guy who is the modern master of political theater. He can drive home a point with such deadly precision, that the opposition is left blindsided and speechless.
What I look for in a Moore film is not an objective study, but passionate commitment, honest outrage and biting sarcasm. In this case, two outta three ain’t bad.
Michael Moore is ornery, his methods unethical, but does he raise some good points? This sloppy, powerful, moving film is worth viewing despite Moore.
It's not compelling; in fact, there are times when it's not especially interesting.
Michael Moore manages to sidestep his trademark grandstanding in the name of provocateur journalism and the dawn of resolution.
It's angry agit-prop - a brilliant blame game - and its real effectiveness as muckraking propaganda may be reflected by the outcome of the November elections.
Not just a scathing indictment against the President... but a deeply patriotic movie which reminds us of the principal tenets which makes a true democracy so great.
Right now, in the summer of 2004, Fahrenheit 9/11 is an absolute good.
