A who's who of elite Hollywood directors and actors partnered with the Showtime network to produce FALLEN ANGELS, a series of film noir shorts set in the murky metropolis of Los Angeles. Tom Cruise makes his directorial debut with THE FIGHTING FRAMMIS, based on a Jim Thompson short story. The complicated plot follows Mitch Allison (Peter Gallagher), a married grifter who loses his wife's savings gambling and stumbles into an even more dangerous situation when he meets Babe Lonsdale (Isabella Rossellini). Alfonso Cuaran adapts Cornell Woolrich's MURDER, OBLIQUELY, which tells the tale of Annie Ainsley (Laura Dern), a single woman who falls madly in love with Dwight Billings (Alan Rickman). Unfortunately, he's too obsessed with Bernette Stone (Diane Lane) to pay her any mind. But when Bernette pops up missing, Annie begins to have her suspicions. Finally, in Jonathan Kaplan's SINCE I DON'T HAVE YOU, based on a James Ellroy story, Buzz Meeks (Gary Busey) finds himself in trouble when he owes his short-tempered bookie thousands of dollars. Working for the criminal Mickey Cohen (James Woods) and influential Howard Hughes (Tim Matheson), he must track down the mysterious Gretchen Rae Shoftel (Aimee Graham) if he wants to remain healthy--and employed. Moody, intelligent, and engaging, FALLEN ANGELS proves that made-for-television dramas can be just as relevant as big screen epics. [More]
