"Family Guy" Movie to Hit DVD Shelves Later This Year
Gareth over at Moviehole shares some news from Video Business Magazine, and it's something that the "Family Guy" fans should find pretty "frickin' sweet" indeed. A feature-length "Family Guy" flick, entitled "Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story!," will hit the DVD shelves on Sept. 27th of this year. The DVD will contain several extra goodies and a commentary by "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane; the plot of the movie deals with young Stewie as he embarks on a quest to find his biological father.

p0pnfresh2002 writes: on Jun 17 2005 09:18 PM I think that people that actually watched the original airings of the first 3 seasons will think this is a great movie (its been a long time coming), and of course stewie won't be the MAIN character Peter will go on a freakin sweet adventure, maybe with Death. I also think that it was a smart move to put this straight to DVD, unfortunately the Simpsons are going big screen and it might not fly. (Reply to this) |

speelbergo writes: on Jun 20 2005 10:27 AM In reply to this comment (#823285) actually, they probably started the family guy movie a long time ago. the fact that it's made for home video doesn't change the fact that it takes about 6 months to complete 25 minutes of animation. they probably just had an early start, or a larger animation team. mstiefan writes: on Jun 20 2005 08:16 PM Overkill? I am worried that Family Guy is blowing its metaphorical load way too quickly. While still funny, I don't find too much of stewie as being good. I find the true humor of family guy as being the flashbacks, and other random vingettes throughout the show. Example, the last show had a firetruck in the wild and a gut-wrenchingly funny depiction of Jake and the Fat Man. Family Guy for 30 minutes, great, family guy for 90 minutes, we'll see. sauronthegr8 writes: on Jun 24 2005 11:37 AM Eh... I loved the original three seasons of Family Guy. I can probably quote most of them, but to me the new ones just aren't as funny. It seems they've become kind of formulaic. Like the other night I was watching a new one that had an ending like Star Wars and I kept waiting for the joke to come. I had hoped Stewie would blow up the world with the Deathstar or something, but it never came. Just having pop culture references isn't enough. It's gotta be funny! And while there are still laughs to be had, it's just not the same. It seems that other fans of the show will pretty much accept anything, but as for me I long for the class of To Live And Die In Dixie or the Y2k episode. Oh, well. Maybe it will improve over time. In the meantime, there's always American Dad. (Reply to this) |
