Futurama is Back!!!!!
by Gareth J. Von Kallenbach | May 09, 2006
Discuss Article
After all manner of speculation -- from theatrical films to series return to straight to DVD release -- confirmation is now in that "Futurama" is indeed coming back in much the same way that "Family Guy" was returned.

From CNN comes this: "There ... was speculation that Fox was looking to resurrect the animated series "Futurama," from "The Simpsons" creator Matt Groening, on its Sunday lineup the same way that "Family Guy" was brought back last year. The network has an option for new episodes, which currently are being produced for Cartoon Network's Adult Swim late-night block.

While FOX is the likely home, it is nice to know that between FOX/Cartoon Network, fans will be getting more of the series soon."

But ... in an interview at The Onion, "Futurama" creator Matt Groening had this to say: "We're going to do four (movies), straight to DVD. And as we speak, I'm exchanging e-mails and ideas with David X. Cohen and Ken Keeler, both of whom worked on the show from the very beginning. Right now we're trying to figure out whether to do a giant epic, or separate crazy movies, or what. But I wager that Bender will be featured prominently."

Well I'm not ready to have sex with Matt Groening but this is very good news. It's good to see that DVD has been able to ressurect TV shows that have avid though relatively small fan bases

I hate to break the bubble of joy, but I'm pretty sure that CNN's comment about new episodes for Cartoon Network's Adult Swim is wrong. The direct-to-DVD movies are still happening, but the info about new episodes isn't.

Still, some new Futurama is better than no new Futurama as I always say.

If this news is true, then i hope they bring it back to Adult Swim. Family Guy has now been killed because of it's return to fox. It just is not funny anymore. Im all for new episodes, just on AD.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!! now bring back FIREFLY as well, you dumb FOX executives. NOW!!! Like jeez, Firefly is still in the top 10 best sellers on Amazon. Doesn't take a moron to realize there is an audience for Firefly. And cancel Simpsons while you're at it. It's been on long enough, don't ruin it anymore.

Family Guy: Check
Futurama: Check
Firefly: ............. is it back yet?
Angel: (see Firefly)

Yeah..........Acorrding to the Audio Commentary.....Fox didn't care for the critic neither did ABC despite decent reviews and ratings.

There were some webisodes and a chance for it to go to UPN with a slahsed budget but it;s deader than Helen Hunt's career.
