Critic Review - New Yorker

[Johnson's] skin looks as though it's been slathered in butter; his enjoyment is infectious and keeps the movie speeding along.

"skin slathered in butter" sounds like a sexual fantasy to me

This movie delivers far more than expected. For the many stereotypes attached to this movie (car guys, tough dudes, typical action flick), this film does a wonderful job of breaking away from them and engrossing the audience in the film's many dynamic elements. The plot of the film is highly entertaining as the thought of a bunch of street racers attempting to rob from Rio's most powerful man is enough to get the viewer on the edge of their seat. This plot is executed perfectly by the fantastic chemistry of the actors. Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson are perfect counters for each other and continually add suspense throughout the movie during their encounters. Add to this the beautiful location of Rio de Janeiro and you have one of the best action films of the year. Five stars hands down.
