Star Trek Into Darkness
As I Lay Dying
I don't mind a film with a surprise ending but, rather than enhancing the film, the climactic revelation in Fight Club cancels out everything previously seen. In fact, the bitter end of the film is a hypocritical cop-out.
It's based on the book. Complain to Chuck not Dave.

Well actually the ending of the book's different to the ending of the film.
But as a huge fan of both i'd say that the film ending was slightly better, but that's just personal preference
Jul 17 - 07:38 PM
Umm... this movie is not all about the story. It's more about the theme. One of the best films ever.
Nov 10 - 12:32 AM
thats what makes it worth watching

Feb 1 - 09:51 PM
Good point but damn what a cool film.
May 9 - 02:01 PM
i also disagree. the surprise ending is like the cherry on an ice cream - it makes something just a little bit better.
Jun 10 - 02:52 AM
this movie is not about making up whole storyit's about What we were talking about in movieit's one of the darkest and coolest movies ever!just epic!and 100% unpredictable
Jul 18 - 01:11 PM
it wasn't surprising at all.
Aug 6 - 05:49 AM
the ending wasn't the cherry on top, it changed the flavour of the whole ice cream but in a good way. I think it makes the movie what it is. I don't understand how such a revelatory, creative climax can be called a cop out!!
Aug 22 - 07:16 PM
Nobody should be surprised to see an ending as terrible as this movie.
Sep 16 - 01:36 PM
well go fuck yourself cunt, this movie is a classic
Jul 11 - 03:44 AM
Try to control yourself, douchebag.
Jan 27 - 11:01 AM
I agree, what a fudge plunger.
May 17 - 05:28 AM
I couldn't agree more about this film's ending being a cop-out. A pretty good film overall, IMO, but really hated the pulpy ending.
Oct 6 - 04:50 PM
The book ending was that jack died, what did u expect ?
Jan 17 - 09:31 PM
"homosexual overtones"? Really? I'm pretty sure that in a hot basement, you're not going to be wanting to wear a whole lot of clothing, nor do I think it is homosexual to beat the shit out of a guy without wearing a shirt. Your ignorance and immaturity disturb me.
Jan 4 - 11:17 PM
Actually there are clear and distinct homosexual overtones...
David Fincher put these in on purpose to keep the audience uncomfortable and to not see the twist ending coming.
Apr 26 - 07:06 AM
go eat shit
May 26 - 06:12 AM
Well...the ending actually shows us what the story was the whole time and it strengthens the theme with the ending. The story is about Edward Norton's character feeling emasculated in the modern world, so think of the ending in that context and it's actually brilliant that he imagines everything because it is a last mental strive to hold onto his male instincts.
May 30 - 11:44 AM
homo.... wow. talk about not knowing ANYTHING about boxing, or (real) wrestling.
Jul 11 - 05:52 PM
if you think the ending is a cop out, then you missed the point dickwads

I was never a fan of the ending. I found the film to be OK, but it's a completely convoluted and pointless end to the film. The overall direction and acting is lovely but without a coherent narrative, it lacks a certain something that's in almost all other films from Fincher.
Sep 6 - 04:08 PM
I actually agree about the climatic revelation contradicting some of the things we saw in the film, aswell as some other flaws. I still enjoy the hell of out this movie somehow, i think it's such good filmmaking that it doesn't matter wheter you agree with the message of it, it's still very entertaining
