I don't mind a film with a surprise ending but, rather than enhancing the film, the climactic revelation in Fight Club cancels out everything previously seen. In fact, the bitter end of the film is a hypocritical cop-out.
this movie is not about making up whole story it's about What we were talking about in movie it's one of the darkest and coolest movies ever! just epic! and 100% unpredictable
the ending wasn't the cherry on top, it changed the flavour of the whole ice cream but in a good way. I think it makes the movie what it is. I don't understand how such a revelatory, creative climax can be called a cop out!!
"homosexual overtones"? Really? I'm pretty sure that in a hot basement, you're not going to be wanting to wear a whole lot of clothing, nor do I think it is homosexual to beat the shit out of a guy without wearing a shirt. Your ignorance and immaturity disturb me.
Well...the ending actually shows us what the story was the whole time and it strengthens the theme with the ending. The story is about Edward Norton's character feeling emasculated in the modern world, so think of the ending in that context and it's actually brilliant that he imagines everything because it is a last mental strive to hold onto his male instincts.
I was never a fan of the ending. I found the film to be OK, but it's a completely convoluted and pointless end to the film. The overall direction and acting is lovely but without a coherent narrative, it lacks a certain something that's in almost all other films from Fincher.
I actually agree about the climatic revelation contradicting some of the things we saw in the film, aswell as some other flaws. I still enjoy the hell of out this movie somehow, i think it's such good filmmaking that it doesn't matter wheter you agree with the message of it, it's still very entertaining

It's based on the book. Complain to Chuck not Dave.

Well actually the ending of the book's different to the ending of the film.
But as a huge fan of both i'd say that the film ending was slightly better, but that's just personal preference
