This is third-rate sci-fi cobbled together with familiar elements of a video game some people like, and that's not nearly enough to work as a film.
SOME people like? Do you have any idea how many people like Final Fantasy? And actually, yes, there is enough of a plot in Final Fantasy to make a movie.

"some people" is a bit of an understatement considering its the best selling video of all time.

*best selling video "game" that is

Actually, that would be the original Super Mario Bros. But, FFVII did sell a whopping 10 million copies, and that's certainly nothing to sneeze at.

Poor review. Absolutely inarticulate on so many levels. Get a new job.

Okay dude, first of all it is NOT a Sci-Fi, that's reserved for things like Star Wars And Star Trek. This is a 'Action Fantasy' and I don't care what Sony have put on the box art, it involves magic and monsters, its a fantasy.
And second...small of you to actually say third rate, compare this to The Spirits Within and you'll see how much better this movie is.

and a third rate reviewer who has no clue what he is reviewing

You really shouldn't review this movie if you haven't played the game. It was a film made for fans of Final Fantasy VII. The plot is deep and makes perfect sense if seen in the correct context.

I Have yet to see this movie, or play the game but i am familiar with FF Series, Mainly X and XIIIBut Game-movie and movie-game adaptions are rarely good and barely keep to the game plot half the time. i Wish someone in Hollywood will get the formula right and make a godd adaption

Dude... Brendon... First off, I agree game to movie and vice versa rarely is good. That being said, this is actually a sequel to the game. It's not intended ti follow the plot of the movie. Second, Hollywood had nothing to do with this one. IT was made by Square-Enix, the same people who made the actual game.

Sorry... not intended to follow the plot of the *game*, not the movie.

I loved Final Fantasy 7. However, this movie seemed like nothing more than eye candy for Final Fantasy fans who wanted to see their favorite characters rendered in high quality 3D.
And the dragonball-esque fight at the end, I couldn't take seriously.

What did you expect? That is how game fights occur in final fantasy 7..duh!!!
