Critic Review - Village Voice

It is plodding, lazily filmed, gassy with James Horner's score, and pads its runtime only by way of tolling repetition.

I thought it was a very good movie. I thought the acting was terrific. It brought a history of the Catholic Church in Mexico to inform me of something that I never knew happened.

I didn't find it plodding or lazily filmed.
