So critics rate Forrest Gump at a 71%. Personally, and I know a lot of people would say that's much too underrated. I mean... at least a 80%. It was an instant classic and had stellar performances, especially by the star (Tom Hanks). Second of all. I'm going through this site looking at some other Tomatometers. I come across 1D: This Is Us. It receives a 68% on the tomatometer.. Okay, 3% behind an actual movie with people who genuinely care about their career. Then I see Katy Perry: Part of Me at a 77%. Okay then, critics. You're obviously seeming more and more retarded by the second. Then I roll on over to The Hunger Games, and it received an 84%. Are you kidding me, critics? The Hunger Games had some wonderful source material with it and it went and through that all out the window. The director mistakenly expects you to have read the book before actually watching the movie. The book SHOULD. NOT. MATTER. There are also very many technical problems and annoyances during the course of the movie. The scene with the "I volunteer to be tribute!" has the worst cut of two shots I've ever seen. One moment she's fighting restraint from the guards, then the other moment she's facing another direction getting the guards' arms off her. The constant "shaking camera" is also an annoyance. Those are the two main ones, and I can't believe hardly anyone picked that first one up. The movie was okay, but it does NOT deserve an 84%. Forrest Gump is an original tale, splicing together wit and charm with a few historical backgrounds to boot. It's not the greatest film, especially for Tom Hanks, but it's still an enjoyable and definitely memorable one. There's some obvious bias here or something also because you can't give a documentary on a poster pop princess a 77%. Are you kidding me? So this girl is just basically a puppet to whatever label she belongs to, making them money by having good lucks and a semi-talented voice. She can't dance, she can't do anything else other than sing. I haven't seen the documentary, but if you're going to give her and her handlers the satisfaction of a decent grade, you're out of your minds. Don't even get me into the whole 1D being complete marionettes and "looks for money" salesmen. Good day to you all.
