Synopsis: In FRANKENWEENIE, a dark but hilarious short, director Tim Burton creates an ode to James Whale's classic horror movie FRANKENSTEIN while commenting on what it's like to grow up in suburban America... In FRANKENWEENIE, a dark but hilarious short, director Tim Burton creates an ode to James Whale's classic horror movie FRANKENSTEIN while commenting on what it's like to grow up in suburban America when there's something about you that's just not quite like everyone else. Victor (Barret Oliver), an average American kid, loves nothing more than his devoted dog. But when his dog is hit by a car and killed, Victor can only think of one solution to the problem: bring the canine back from the dead. Much to the dismay of Victor's parents (Shelly Duvall and Daniel Stern), and, eventually to the horror of their neighbors, the dead dog, alive again, is now a creepy monster covered in scars. Burton infuses the film with his own black humor and poignancy. Shot in black and white, FRANKENWEENIE evokes 1950s sitcoms like OZZIE AND HARRIET as much as it does 1930s monster movies. [More]
