A remake of the 1976 classic, this story of mother-daughter body-switching features impressive and entertaining performances from established star Jamie Lee Curtis and teen actress Lindsey Lohan. Curtis plays Tess Coleman, a widowed psychiatrist juggling her job and family while planning her second marriage. Lohan plays her rebellious rocker daughter Anna, who disapproves of her mom's wedding plans. Complete opposites, Tess and Anna are forced to understand each other's perspectives when one night, after bickering at a Chinese restaurant, they wake up in each other's bodies under a fortune-cookie curse. A hilarious series of physical comedy routines ensues, as Tess must deal with Anna's high school and Anna must cope with Tess's adult responsibilities. To make matters worse, this all happens on the same day of Tess's rehearsal dinner and Anna's band audition for the House of Blues. In a challenging role that requires her to slouch, curse, and flirt like a teenager, Jamie Lee Curtis is a comic genius. [More]

Reviews for Freaky Friday
Deliciously acted and good-humored to its core, it's one of the summer's very best surprises.
Freaky Friday is a snappy comedy that hits the mark with its wry observations on youth and middle age; in addition it salutes empathy as a bridge-building virtue.
Should thank God for its female leads, who provide enough comedic energy to carry a week’s worth of body-switch movies.
Remade Disney flick charms with loose comedy, unforced heart and two fab female leads.
Comedies rarely get respect...but these two ladies do some extraordinary acting, and that deserves to be recognized.
Through solid acting, careful pacing and strong writing, Freaky Friday never condescends, simply because it’s not a meticulously handled shot at one demographic.
Curtis' and Lohan's performances are unpredictable and inspired, much fresher than the movie they're stuck in.
Jamie Lee Curtis gives good, goofy fun in this affable remake of a remake.
Watching Curtis rock out is very nearly worth the price of admission.
Director Mark Waters whips up a sweet and thoroughly modern version of the '70s movie that caters to young adults without being crass.
Freaky Friday pulls off the unexpected and offers one of the best family-friendly comedies in a summer that is rife with family movies.
The trailers were terrible. The poster is even worse. But the movie? Not so bad.
