A remake of the 1976 classic, this story of mother-daughter body-switching features impressive and entertaining performances from established star Jamie Lee Curtis and teen actress Lindsey Lohan. Curtis plays Tess Coleman, a widowed psychiatrist juggling her job and family while planning her second marriage. Lohan plays her rebellious rocker daughter Anna, who disapproves of her mom's wedding plans. Complete opposites, Tess and Anna are forced to understand each other's perspectives when one night, after bickering at a Chinese restaurant, they wake up in each other's bodies under a fortune-cookie curse. A hilarious series of physical comedy routines ensues, as Tess must deal with Anna's high school and Anna must cope with Tess's adult responsibilities. To make matters worse, this all happens on the same day of Tess's rehearsal dinner and Anna's band audition for the House of Blues. In a challenging role that requires her to slouch, curse, and flirt like a teenager, Jamie Lee Curtis is a comic genius. [More]

Curtis and Lohan are so clearly enjoying themselves that they are fun to watch and the story moves along so briskly that its logical flaws barely get in the way.

Freaky Friday is motion picture cotton candy -- sweet while it lasts, easily disposed of, and insubstantial.

In a year that has tortured us with such family movie duds as A Family Affair, The In-Laws and Spy Kids: 3-D, this film is positively welcome.

'Creaky Friday' is more like it...at its best the movie is no more than an amusingly retrograde retread of an idea that's been done all too frequently on the screen.

Blame Freaky screenwriters Heather Hach and Leslie Dixon for the yellow-peril fantasies, and instead curl up with Rodgers's novel and its sequel, A Billion for Boris, which remain eminently enjoyable today.

As assured a screwball comedy as Hollywood has made in decades.

Directed at an almost breathless pace by Mark Waters, the movie leans heavily on the comedic skills of Curtis and Lohan, both of whom are wonderful.

Such a sublimely fun-for-all matinee delight that it cleansed my palate of the sour taste of every bad movie I've seen this summer.

Moms and their teenage daughters have struggled for centuries to connect. Bridging that yawning chasm is the yin and yang of this cheerful, well-executed charmer.

Who'd have thought that a wholesome comedy could entertain adults as much as their kids?
