Critic Review - Washington Post

It improves on the premise it has been handed, producing a modernized version of a decades-old story that's superior to its predecessor in virtually every aspect.

It's great to hear that from a Top Critic and i'm hoping your right, still none the less i'm pretty positive it'll be a good movie if not a great one.

It's very good, but the original Evil Ed and Peter Vincent are untouchable.

Paul, the original Jerry was cool, and yes in his own way untouchable...But, the original Jerry in "todays society and generation" would get his ASS kicked lol.

***SPOILER***
I dont think Original Ed was strong enough or smarter enough to blow your house up for an invitation. Collin F. Was epically good!

I shall be seeing this flick in 3D now....since I didnt see it in 3d the first time.

Sean, nice review. I have the "1985" cult classic, and though, its a nice popcorn movie I believe the Remake brought a whole new freshness as a relaunch/remake.

It's one of the fewer Horror movies in the past 5 years (if any) to have a remake be BETTER than the original.

I agree. After A Nightmare On Elm Street I'd pretty much given up entirely on horror remakes. It was good to see this one didn't completely blow.

Critics being paid off to write positive reviews for crappy movies isn't an unheard of practice in Hollywood. It happens more often than you think it does. I'm not really suggesting that anyone who reviewed Fright Night was paid off, but I've read a LOT of questionable and uncharacteristic reviews ttha seemm to always come from top critics and, maybe I am just being paranoid here, but most are for Disney movies, I noticed. Anyway, I'm not agreeing with Eric, but I don't think he's pathetic. He could be right.

"superior to its predecessor in virtually every aspect."

Save one HUGE aspect...the original WAS THE ORIGINAL. Score one for the folks that did it FIRST...and sorry, Sean...BETTER.

I completely agree with every word you wrote. What a very pleasant surprise this re-make was. Far better than the clunky original!!!
