Movie Info

In an odd mix of parody, gore, and a tipping of the hat to other (better) horror films, Frightmare by Norman Thaddeus Vane remains an unfunny, undefined story about Conrad (Ferdinand Mayne), a horror film star who starts the entertainment off with the murder of two of his directors, commenting "take 19" and "take 20" as he dispatches them. Sooner than he would have expected, "take 21" arrives when Conrad himself is felled by a heart attack, much to the grief of his teen fans who steal his corpse from its mausoleum -- incurring the wrath of Conrad's wife. She enlists the aid of a medium not to mediate, but to reanimate the body and wreak vengeance on the little twerps who violated its eternal rest. Conrad's corpse agrees with his still living wife and begins to get rid of teens in particularly gory fashion, stalking them inside a Dark Old Mansion -- so much for teen fan clubs.more

Frightmare fumbles so many of the standard scare tactics that it's almost impossible to see where it gained such a supercilious legitimacy.

Audience Reviews for Frightmare

This slasher flick is so predictable and poorly made, it's just too boring to watch.
