Fuck (F*ck) Reviews
May 5, 2013
Fuck is about what else? A documentary about the word Fuck. If you watch it, it actually comes close to being really good and it is not as bad as it looks like. When I first watched this documentary, I was clearly offended by it but now it's not as bad as it seems. Fuck gets a 6.5/10.

This is actually complete shit and mostly made of street interviews. Literally the worst method of "documentary". And random comedians complaining about censorship via excessive profanities.

According to Wikipedia, this film uses the word fuck more than any other film, and as a big fan of not just the word fuck but all profanity itself, I thought I'd take a look at it. It's misleading to say this film uses it the most, as a great deal of the usages are from clips of other movies of shows like Scarface or Deadwood. The film has some highlights, but it's way to focused on how the Bush adminastation and the Christian right are trying to intitute an antifuck theocracy, and not the actual origon and evolution of the word. An editor of The Oxford Dictionary and the interview with him in this film were absolutely fascinating, but the short animated clip talking about how linguisticly significant it is was poorly put together, inaccurate, and hardly did it justice. I mean, it's the MOST popular infix in English (other ones, outside of Chemistry, include iz or izn [as in hizouse or shiznit] and ma [as in saxomaphone or edumacation]), and it can describe EVERY emotion. The Southpark episode 'It Hits the Fan' and the Soutpark movie 'Bigger, Longer, and Uncut' explore profanity more engagingly. Now, I'm off to see The Aristocrats (a similar documentary) which is supposedly much more entertaining.

I rented this partially as a joke because it's my roommate's absolute favorite word , while I use it a little more sparingly. I also thought it could be fun and interesting. Unfortunately, once it establishes that the word is old and is not an acronym for anything and that the government deals with it really badly, it just turns into a volley between the bad asses and the tight asses. I know it can be satisfying to say and I know it's naughty to some other people. I would like there to have been more depth.

There are some fun facts, Billy Connolly is funny as always and the cartoons are hilarious, but it's floating head interview-only style and it's over-long running time get the best of it.

I was so stoked to watch this when I found it on netflix. It's got a lot of famous people but the doc is about the meaning and origin of the word FUCK but after it was done I still didn't feel informed about the word fuck

Learned a few interesting things, but already knew a lot about what they had to say. It was way too long and overly focused on pushing a biased overview of the word itself.

An interesting documentary covering the historical and modern use of the titular word. It's sometimes goes on tangents, but overall, it's entertaining.

Fuck this fuckin' movie, I mean seriously, it tries to get as many laughs out of fuck as possible, when not at all trying to actually explore the fuckin' origins of fuck. FUCK THIS.

A long-form inspection of the most infamous word in the English language, with insights from all walks of life. Comedians, talk show hosts, politicians, musicians, linguists and historians all chime in on the weight a simple four-letter concoction can carry, and whether our society is in the right or the wrong for placing such a special value on it. The natural bases are covered: censorship, religion, root origins, liberty and social conservatism, with amusing dalliances into the wildly different applications for the F-word and its unique status as a noun, verb, adjective, adverb and simple sign of emphasis or excitement. It does drag on at times, but clever editing and some tremendous sound bytes, particularly from Scottish comedian Billy Connolly, always manage to pull it back from the edge. Fair, insightful and funny, if not all it could have been.

This was a nice documentry. The word does have alot of meanings and lots of the people who use it are hypocrytes. Boone just looked like an idiot on this....sorry boone fans.

This is a very interesting documentary with plenty of naughty and nice people giving their views on this little word.

Interesting i guess, but doesn't really go anywhere. More of an exploitation of the word than an actual exploration.

A pretty f*cking boring film, really. It is what it is. A simple, obvious, straightforward examination of the F word, with opinions (against a black backdrop) from celebrities and lobbyists. You aren't likely to learn anything new from watching this movie (except maybe what famous person was caught using the word at some time) so save yourself the time (90 minutes that feels like 9 hours). At one point, Kevin Smith commends the creators of "Meet The Fockers" for their use of the name and thus drawing $500M worth of viewers to the cinema. The same could be said for this film: were it not for the title, would anyone notice this "documentary"?

Ihan jees dokkari, joka on vähän levällään. Eli punainen lanka tavallaan on mutta se kiertää sitten jokaisen mahdollisen paikan. Hieman parempi fokus olisi ollut paikallaan. Myös muutama "puhuvista päistä" on turha ja eivät tuo mitään lisäarvoa keskusteluun.
