See Clips from the Films of Funny People's "George Simmons"
by RT Staff | June 18, 2009
Blog Article | Discuss Article
Summary

George Simmons, the world-famous (yet quite lonely) comedian and movie star played but Adam Sandler in Judd Apatow's "Funny People," won't be formally introduced to moviegoers until the film bows on July 31. In the meantime, however, you can get an early peek at some of the films that made Simmons a star, thanks to just-released clips from a few of his best-known hits, including "Sayonara Davey," "Dog's Best Friend," and "Re-Do." It's all part of the promotional rollout for "Funny People," centered around the launch of Simmons' official website. Ready to experience the latest and greatest in viral campaigns? Back to Article

Haha, these are all fantastic! Reminiscent of what Tropic Thunder did but all of these are a lot funnier than any of the Tropic Thunder trailers in my opinion.

sorry, but there's no way in hell any of these are funnier than satan's alley. That tropic thunder trailer had me in stitches.

These clips also remind me of what they did in Tropic Thunder. This had to be Adam Sandler's influence on the movie. Hopefully he had a big hand in the script and everything else and we don't get much of Apatow's unfunny recycled crap in this film.

It's nice to know that Sandler can make fun of the 90's/early 00's-style high-concept comedy that gave him his start, yielded so few classics (Billy Madison, Austin Powers 1) and gave us so much terrible, terrible bull**** (Deuce Bigalow, Joe dirt). These were pretty on-target, and I love the simple, artless poetry of "Man's Best Friend" (even if that's going after the 80's "Turner and Hooch").

Oh, and everyone needs to check out their sister viral site too - for a crappy TV show called Yo Teach! Which I'm guessing stars Jason Schwartzman's character in "Funny People."
